Listen to Fetty Wap on Spotify
Did you know?
The artist behind the song “Trap Queen”, Fetty Wap, has a pretty interesting backstory. Fetty Wap, born Willie Maxwell II, rose to stardom with the success of his debut single “Trap Queen”. Before his rapper days, Fetty Wap grew up in his grandfather’s church and played the drums there alongside his father on the keyboard and uncle as head drummer. When he was six months old, Wap lost his eye to glaucoma and wore a prosthetic eye for many years afterwards. He stopped wearing it later on because, he claimed, he didn’t want to look like everyone else.
Fetty Wap has been hugely inspired in his career by rapper Gucci mane, and even took inspiration from him to come up with his stage name, Fetty Wap. Fetty, is a slang word for money and Wap derives from Gucci mane’s nickname, GuWop. He even cites the reason behind him opting to rather sing in his music than rap, being that he doesn’t want to end up flowing like his idol, Gucci Mane.
